Publishing Rights Revert to Authors

September 19, 2011, Franklin, TN - As of today, the publisher has reverted all rights for Gathering: Writers of Williamson County to Council for the Written Word (CWW.) Rights have also reverted from CWW back to original contributors. CWW has notified contributing authors for which it has current contact information. This notice affects only those contributors submitting original work not previously published. Rights to contributions used by permission remain held by their respective prior publishers and copyright holders.


CWW Votes to Dissolve

May 26, 2011, Franklin, TN - A motion recommending dissolution of Council for the Written Word was passed at the regularly scheduled May business meeting. The Board has considered and followed that recommendation. Formal notice of the recommendation and decision has been sent to current members. In accordance with bylaws, the Board has also terminated current membership.

An offer has been extended to refund 2011 membership fees. Members recently terminated who are interested in a refund are to contact the treasurer. Refund requests must be received in writing (email will suffice) by the treasurer no later than June 15, 2011. Requests recieved after June 15 shall not be considered.

CWW's critique groups have operated independently for several years and will continue to do so as long as facilitators continue to volunteer their time to those groups. See the Calendar page for more information.


CWW loses founding member and vice president

February 20, 2011, Franklin, TN - Janice Keck served Williamson County citizens, literature, arts, and literacy with a fierce spirit and positive attitude that was rarely matched. Her vision brought the county a new library and expanded branch service to mulitple communities. She served as an officer of this Council, the Tennessee Writers' Alliance, and other local and state societies. We lost Janet on Feb. 20. It will be a loss long realized for a spirit not soon forgotten.


S. R. Lee seeks writers!

January 4, 2011, Franklin, TN - Interested writers are invited to submit to a new publication: Filtered through Time an anthology of original fiction and poetry reflecting how Middle Tennessee, especially Williamson County, traditions and reactions to the Civil War, have come down through the generations for 150 years.
